you have been wanting to check out this "all you can eat" restaurant at scheveningen that your friends have been frequented regularly. a friend invited both of you to go for dinner yesterday. you know the restaurant is famous for the oyster and sashimi and these are indeed your favorite too. so you went with certain expectation. unlike most of the all you can eat "japanese" restaurant in lowland, this restaurant doesn't limit you on the number of dishes you could order or how many rounds you could consume. they have the limited time and you were there for the 5.30pm to 8pm slot.
raw oyster, they are fresh, and should be eaten with just a drizzle of lemon juice or plain, but these come with some marinated sauce even though the oysters are raw... it's just personal taste that you prefer these raw and natural ^^.
the sashimi is the star, you are not sure if you like the maguro (tuna), which you can still taste the frozen ice in the flesh, the salmon and sea-bream are great, you had three rounds of order just on sashimi...
fried chili king prawn, a little too oily to your taste, apart from this is not really japanese there is nothing else to fault about.
scallop gratin, you find this ordinary and technically not a japanese dish but he loves it so much that he ordered another one for himself.
rack of lamb, these are okay but the meat is a little too dry to your liking..
marinated seaweed a good appetizer
this is the only plate of sushi you ordered, unagi, seared scallop and raw scallop sushi. they are yum!
agedashi tofu is a no no... you wonder why there is a sticky starch coated on the tofu, this supposed to be a deep fried tofu dish
the salt grilled mackerel - hmm another no no.. over cooked and the meat is dry and hash...
until now your dining experience here was quite pleasant despite the mixed standard of the food served. raw/cold dish are superior than the cooked ones. when you still have 30 min to 8pm, the waitresses started to rush you through your order and created a stressful situation. they even delivered your ice cream before you finished your food. this situation sort of jeopardized the overall experience @.@. you were being hurried and at the end it became a rush that you ended your dinner abruptly.

Looks real yummy!
Agedashi tofu usually is coated with potato starcg b4 deep frying, so it becomes sticky-starchy when soaked in the sauce. At least tt's what i noticed...
DH, we should go and eat if you like sashimi and oysters ^^
Terri, O really, that's not the agedashi tofu that I tried once before in Japan...I don't like the sticky texture
