summer.garden

13 days post surgery. the weather finally turn summer today. it's about time for warmer days as you are a little more mobile and able to move around more.
you whisked up multi-grains pancake for breakfast. it's suppose to be the chef's job but chef was busy assembly the cafe table you bought yesterday.
you chilled some fruits in the fridge, hence all you need to do is to cut the golden kiwi and the nectarine, combining with blueberries, a dollop of honey, a nub of pressed ginger and a dash of spanish muscato sweet wine, that's the condiments for pancake.
by the time the table is ready, your pancake is ready to be served too, outdoor, at the garden of bethel, under the sunny sun, refreshing temperature.
for once you almost thought you are on vacation, somewhere at a mediterranean city. it's the first time you really enjoying your garden. even though it is still barren and less green but that sort of quietness, under the dutch blue sky with temperament warm weather is something hard to come by.
it's another sunday that you skipped church service, missing it in a way but yet you you know you cant attempt a sunday celebration. not yet.
dinner was impromptu, it was not intended to be a bbq but you wanted something simple so that the chef got to relax, and you ended with BBQ indeed.
nothing fancy, just a Italian caprese salad of mozzarella, tomato, basil and drizzles of olive oil, balsamic vinegar. it's really a simple Italian summer salad. light and refreshing.
sliced aubergine brush with pesto sauce, drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle of salt, put on grill and that's it!
the lightly charred vegetable
best eat with the store bought assorted sausage, wash down with a glass of chilled beer (but that's for him, you are still abstain from alcohol drinks)...
sticks of veg and pepperoni, and leftover rice...
you end the evening with two scoops of cherry ice cream topped with the Moroccan mint you picked from your garden. bliss. lazy summer day. a day that you finally able to enjoy even though it comes with a bit of tiredness and subtle pain. you give thanks. for this is the day that the Lord has made and you will rejoice and be glad in it.
