kampung.girl

perhaps there's nothing special about this kampung (malay village), but as you drive passed the area, you want to show him a typical kampung nelayan (malay fishing village). and this kampung holds a lot of memories of your youth.  you used to come all the way from kuching to enjoy seafood meals here. the kampung has not changed, it is almost the same as you recalled...
a malay village house, kampung buntal is so close to the sea that this is a typical malay fishing village

where you can see the shell fish, crab and fresh fish are on sales here... what puzzle you is there is not a sign of ice cube or temperature control... these seafood are sold under the 30c heat.  you have an iron cast stomach and that probably has to do these and how your body immune system reacted to this at the young age.

you show him the compound behind those 'high rise' houses and stalls.  right here  is a patch of marsh land...
and you still remember you used to eat at the restaurant pictured in this photo. when you came in the evening at high tight, the entire area including the green grass is covered by sea water.
you were a kampung girl after all, the nature has induced in you the carefree spirit which in a way determine who you are today...

well, those were the days...

not the first time, but it's the first time he is staying for a week and took time to explore beyond the city center. we have tried those local food and actually we have been to Nee's too as it is a cafe of a friend's friend and friend's relative. Kuching is small, everyone know everyone....
