from here you got a glimpse of the hospice's pattern roof, not as impressive as the one you have seen in people's photo but good enough considering you are not paying a penny.
you walk further along the stoney path around the rampart, you got a feeling this path is surrounding the hospice but you just couldn't see a thing from here.
the path is really short and it ends to a road joining the old city of beaune, just as you are about to leave, you chanced into a public car park that eventually leads you to the garden of the old folk home.
from here you see a more impressive part of the roof, which you are really thankful. you took your time at this quiet garden, admiring the flowers, plants and the roof. It's literally you, him and a old lady suiting quietly under the sun. blissful and peaceful as it should be.

while you're still taking photos, you lose sight of him and as you wander around the not so big garden, you finally found him at the other side of the other side of the old folk home, inside the court yard of the hospice. you try to push the gate which apparently locked and so you wave till he noticed you. little you know he came to the direction of the gate and open the door for you.
as such, you enter the hospice free without paying a penny. you're thrilled and oo-ing and aah-ing while you soak in the view of this impressive hospice roof greedily!
it's really beautiful, frankly speaking not being an architect or following any architecture education before, you know knowing about the origin, the when, the why and the how of the design or the patterned roof. you could ask mr google of course, but you just haven't got the time to do the research till now.
you could visit the hospice and its history as well, but that really not your cup of tea, in fact you're already thankful that you could enjoy the view of the hospice courtyard for free.
