boozy.Christmas.fruitcake

you are so into Christmas mood.
drinking the Christmas tea, a special blend from fortnum and mason is elevating the Christmas spirit in you.  it's lovely and most importantly naturally scented tea .  you could catch the festive spirit from merely drinking this tea.
you baked an english Christmas fruitcake two weeks ago.   you know you have to bake early if you want the cake to mature over time.  the fruits were soaked generously in brandy. you baked in a very small tin case, not knowing if he likes it and you may have trouble in finishing it.  you brush the cake with more brandy as you put it to age...

you could have wait longer, but you reckon two weeks wait is good enough.  you didn't bother to layer it with marzipan and fondant, prefer it this way... and you decided to serve try them.  it's pretty, the color is a little pale but had it be a dark cake you will not have the chance to appreciate the almost transparent fruits.  they looks like a pieces of precious gems... just lovely to the sight and boozy to the palate..  very dense and mulled with brandy!

it's your first ever english Christmas cake. you saw your mum or sister baking this in advance to time leading to Christmas in the past, but they are usually darker and you never really like them.  this is so good that you baked another batch over the weekend, twisted the recipe a little bit to include some black treacle, so that the color would be a tad browner than this.  that will certainly be slice and serve just about Christmas - well 13 days to go...
