you learned as a child, A is for apple! as you grow older, you're told that an apple a day, keep the doctor away. no doubt there's enough nutrition in apple. you collected some apples from ahaus, and knowing that you are going away for work again, you baked these apples last sunday, knowing that you will put the apples to justices and friends will be able to enjoy them as dessert at the mid autumn gathering.
you baked this before. it's nigel slater's english apple cake. you love it because it's light, a perfect serving for afternoon tea alone or a sweet ending after a heavy meal.
this cake is very light, intertwine with the tarty apple slices made a good combination. it went fast at the gathering....
a more heavy apple frangipane tart. you've been wanting to make this for awhile. the last time you intend to make this you're running out of almond powder at home. with these german apples at hand, you make sure you have almond powder, and made the fragipane a day ahead, so that it has enough time to chill over night in the fridge.
a sweet crust pastry, and a layer of frangipane, sliced apple and off to the oven. you love it when the almond paste oozing up and sort of cover the apple. it gives a very lovely aroma.
you left the party earlier, just when the kids and adults were about to parade with their lanterns. you were told the tart were gone too after the troop return from the walk.
