an english afternoon tea in the forest, woodland or a far away land? well sort of, and almost! with 3 people, you sat down and enjoy your tea. earl gray extreme for you and vanilla tea for the other.
your 3 tier afternoon tea set arrives, not a very traditional one for sure, but certainly creative and unconventional. it's like you are sitting in the forest, fairy came and you are served. every bite is full of delight.
they are actually too pretty to consume... you spend sometime admiring the presentation
the savory tier - filled with assorted finger sandwich...
lovely salmon sandwich complement with salmon roe
cucumber sandwich, probably the least exciting one but this is a traditional english tea element...
croquet messieur - a french fried stick sandwich
this is the best! the egg sandwich with sunny side egg and caviar... perfect!
fig macaroon with lavender, a small bite but the lavender scent lingers in your mouth for a long time
mini chocolate eclairs, also scented with spice, but you couldn't tell what spice is that
this is the least exciting lemon meringue tart, it's not too bad, but compare to many other small bites, this is not so appealing to you. you expect something more than just lemony but there's nothing but a lemon curd tart.
chocolate macaron, just a tad too sweet to your liking...
finally the english scone. this is light and airy, so perfectly done. you couldn't finish the scone as you already stuffed by now.
the ending is actually the tapioca pudding, quite a elegant palate cleansing.
all in all you like it here. certainly nothing pretentious nor traditional classical english afternoon tea. it's just delightful and refreshing to sit in the "meadow", with great company and intellectual conversion.
