hamburg is like rotterdam, a relatively new harbor city with primarily new buildings but not too much of historical sights... Christmas markets are scattered across the city... some chic and high end ones and the more traditional ones at the city square... you were there rather late on friday night and went again on saturday...
the typical german nutcracker man
quite a substantial size made of wood with mustache
and some silly pose with mr nutcracker
the street view on friday evening was quite charming, only it starts drizzling and that sort of cool off the strolling mood a little, it's became cold and damp even though the actual temperature was at around 5c...
you're at the more upscale Christmas market, imagine these keys, tools and skew drivers are gourmet chocolate? what you're more accustomed to are those traditional ones... so you walk to the other market near to the rathaus at the city square
here you are familiar with the sort of merchandiser items and the display of the stalls and feel at home too with the scents and aroma of the food
and the mulled wine... of course...
hamburg is a modern city, the rathaus albeit having some period characteristics on its building, you can tell it's relatively new, probably rebuilt after second world war...
colorful russian dolls....
mistletoe's for sales, does it mean that you can kiss anyone underneath it? ^^
