berchtesgaden.marktfest

taken in early august during your summer road trip to germany...
it's a festival day at a town called berchtesgaden, just atop schonau where you lodged...

you went there in the late afternoon, it's still quite empty. perhaps it's just too hot to wander around....
berchtesgaden is a very small town but a charming one....
with all the tables set, crowds just not showing up until 6pm...

then you have these lovely ladies in their dirndls serving the patrons....
and boys in their traditional dress code too!
typical german beer hall dish...
and sausage, what's more?
together with half a liter beer to wash down.... it's a hot and perspiring day but the atmosphere is festive and sitting in a long table with other germans trying to make a conversation. in your case, it's hopeless but he's able to get by with some casual chat with extra effort....
