you finally come to this place after many months of talking. amsterdam is not far but to make a point to come here you need to have compelling reason and time. with visitor in town, so why not make a trip to amsterdam to sample this most talked about being the best apple pie in the lowland?
it's a rainy day, windy in fact but that didn't stop you from a trip to the capital city. you walk to this place and opt for an outdoor sitting even it's raining. you have the view of the noorderkerk but since it's not monday or saturday, the place is quite empty and feels like a very quaint neighborhood.
winkel's apple pie is it! it's very different from the rest of the commercial one that you tasted before. it has less or to non existence of the cinnamon, yet it's very fresh and light. each mouthful is a pleasant experience with no nuts and minimum raisin yet, you can taste the freshness of the apple. the crust is in between cake and pie crust which actually taste much sweeter than the apple filling itself.
you don't mind coming back again if you're in jordaan again.
