it's hinamatsuri (girl's day) in japan, although it is not entirely relevant to where you are today, but somehow you remember this festival dearly. this is not your first encounter of many of the japanese festivals, in fact setsubun ( 節分祭) was the first but that didn't appeal as much as hinamatsuri girly festval to you. you wanted to bake and cook something special for today, but you never got the time and the mood to do so.
in fact you visited a museum in amstelveen together with a friend of his, for an impromptu modern art fix. since his friend has to leave earlier, you ended up with a bit of shopping and eventually mutually agreed it got to be japanese tonight.
it's been awhile since you last made sushi or onigiri for that matter, yet you composed them swiftly, although not as pretty and precise as you always wanted.
he made a pot of miso soup and that's your dinner. simple, filling yet satisfying in a way as if you have embraced this festival subtly.
to end, a creme brulee with a giant strawberry that you made a few days ago...
today you remember all the girls in japan today asking God to bless them and give them a great future.
