momofuku.ssam.bar
two years ago, momofuku was the hippest restaurant that has a long wait list to get in to. this trip, you manage to dine at momofuku ssam bar, although it's not the famous restaurant that needs a week reservation, the ssam bar is quite a good alternative to sample momofuku specialty. even though the name sounds like japanese restaurant but it is a korean restaurant with fusion twists. you dine here with a girlfriend from tokyo.
you were on time but your friend C was late for 30 min, you decided to sit and wait inside the restaurant instead of standing under the sun. as soon as she arrived, you order this as appetizer.
the pork soft bun is so yummy, although the pork comes with a thick layer of fat but really it's not greasy and in fact melt in your mouth.
you then had a famous duck over rice set meal that comes with pickles. the duck is so good. it's definitely fusion and not conventional korean food, but the combination somehow works.
the spicy potato with black bean sauce is great too!
you had a very engaging conversation with C, lots of recollection of time in tokyo even though both of you no longer live there.
food wise, it's really yummy and you walked out the restaurant feeling your stomach bloated, best thing to do is to head to central park for a walk.
