chateau.de.pommard

you visited this chateau, just a few minute drive outside old city of beaune.
a chateau that holds true to its own principles - vast vineyards, exclusive marketing strategy, traditional method.
 dali collection is rich here...
but you indulge more in the nature and vineyards than the arts despite the afternoon sun.
there's also an rustic kitchen on display with all the cooper pots and utensils... but really you keep looking to the vineyard....

you didn't care about the heat and the uv ray. you enjoyed the vineyards the most
and learnt that the soils terroir has a big impact on the grapes.  hence the same grape pinot noir has different characters even from one vineyard.
you don't entirely agree with the sales and marketing philosophy but you respect the principles of the owner and the fact that they make their wines exclusive.
a short visit to the cellar, very small compared to the champagne cellar that you visited before in reims or eparney. the brief tour to the under passage is interesting and you learned about the make and the process of burgundy wines in particular the operation and the strategies of pommard.
that's because the chateau is still under the very old principle. that said they do buy. grapes from other vineyards in the proximity and produce the wine in a slightly different methadone that their one grapes.
you tasted mersault, pommard red 2007, 2008, 2010.
these wines are great .  you haul the wine home too and total damage comes to the price of  3 bottles of wines which you intend to consume quickly albeit the fact that you could keep them for a few more years but that just not going to happen when you don't have a conditioned cellar to keep them.
and their garden next to the car park is impressive too!

it's a nice experience to get to know the burgundy wine a tad better!
