farewell.bbq

after the heavy hash brown breakfast, i start my day with grocery shopping and then preparing for the bbq this evening, we share the preparation between my MIL, SIL and us....

i am making beef satay with spices such as cumin, coriander, fennel, white pepper, galangal, turmeric and lots of garlic and shallot ... lots of chopping and then pounding, as you can see from the photo above, i am still old-fashion when come to mixing paste... i still don't like to use the blander although it is much quicker but somehow the aroma is more appealing when i pound it with mortal and pestle...

a sort of italian salad dish - bruchesta simply delicious for a hot summer day and perfect match for bbq.... lot of tomatoes, garlic, shallot, basil leave with heaps of evoo...

and i also made a pot of barley ginko soup(薏米白果糖水), a sort of soup based dessert that should soothe or cool down the body after the bbq food...

although it is a family occasion to bid farewell to my FIL who will be leaving for hong kong tomorrow, we actually have a few friends from our church to join us as well.....

and we 'almost' finished the bbq before the thunder light and heavy rain come.....
