japanese.cold.somen

when the weather is too hot, one just doesn't have any appetite for food and also no mood to stand in the kitchen and do the cooking. the japenese really know how to eat according to four seasons and one of the favorite japanese dishes for me is either zaru soba or this cold somen dish.

you need to use somen, boil them according to the instruction and then run them on cold water and just put them in a large bowl with ice cube when you are ready to serve....

you have a japanese bamboo mat plate where you can take the somen out of the ice water bowl and let it drain in this bamboo mat place

and take the amount of nori (seaweed) you like...

you dip the somen into the manshoyu sauce with some shredded basil leave (a substitute for japanese shiso leave) to add extra flavors...

then you just tug in and enjoy a cool, refreshing and soothing meal.... you can also add a little bit of wasabi to the dipping sauce if you like extra kick....

cheers for the mid summer!
