hakodate.函.館

finally at the northern kingdom!! 

journey just began and it will continue...

your first stop calling at hakodate (函館), a southern city of the island of hokkaido, you didn't visit this city a few years ago, and so you are here this trip.

the air is fresh, still in the early spring whilst tokyo already gives you the heat and humidity of summer without enough air conditioning at public places.

you dropped your luggage to the humble hostel where you lodge and you are determine to check out the famous night view of hakodate.

a good walk up the slope to the rope-car station....

the night view from hakodate yama (函館山) is awesome

 you only arrived for 2 hour or so, and standing here looking down give you the good overview of the city and the light indicating the locations of the spots that you want to visit too...

it's spectacular and amazing outlook the top.

it reminds you of san francisco, a city that you haven't visited over the  ten years and you wonder if your journey will take you there eventually...

at the foot of the hill, you decide to continue explore the vicinity, based on what you saw from the top, you explore the churches nearby on the conditions there are enough people and the feeling of safe and secure. but you didn't go too far because your stomach is crunching for food.

you read about the whale meat burger serving at lucky pierrot but when you asked and finally understood from your simple japanese that they already stop serving the whale meat miso burger.

given it is late and you are hungry, you ordered a burger anyway and it's cheap...

and it's really delicious, taste of home made, made to order... not a bad choice to start with...
