end.of.spring.festive.圆。宵。节

today is already the fifteen day of chinese new year (圆宵节).  you know that back home family will celebrate the official closing of the spring festival with another feast, for you today is going to be a ordinary day.
what you want to write about is last saturday, you were invited to another friend's house for a chinese new year gathering.

where you got to enjoy more homemade cookies and taiwanese style sticky steam glutinous rice cake nian gau (台式年糕)
she served so much appetizers and bite size nibbles that you are already full before the meal actually starts

kid needing help to pick up his choice of cookies, so he is just giving a helping hand to lift the kid to make his choice.  and yes, you brought along the green tea chiffon cake that you made a day before.

you brought the keropok (prawn cracker) and have it fried at the host's place and also bring along a home made sarawak acar to eat with the keropok. this is how it should be eaten back home. total yum ^^!

finally the actual feast is about to begin, and most of you already full from the nibble all day long...

starting with the home made yee sang (鱼生). this is so much refreshing compare to the store bought yee sang version that you prepared the week before.
guests starting to toss the yee sang and create a beautiful mess but it is so appetizing to eat the yee sang after the greasy deep fried snacks that needless to say you have been munching all afternoon...
the soy sauce and herbs marinated chicken wings and eggs (卤味) by a guest
the bak kut teh (肉骨茶)that you cooked a day before, it was not the intention to bring over but you cooked so much and your host welcomes BKT, so you brought along too, after all sharing is caring.
the very mild chicken curry prepared by the host...

that goes really well with the glutinous yellow rice.

now, since today is the  fifteen day of chinese new year or in your homeland is usually called chap goh mei but other countries regards the same day as " yuan xiao jie"   (圆宵节), it is indeed the end of the spring festival season.  spring should be already here but in reality you are now living in ice age with sunny beautiful sky but severely minus temperature.
