Edo-Tokyo Museum at Ryogoku (両国)

Today we visited Edo-Tokyo Museum at Ryogoku (両国)- a sumo town, just about 15 min walk from our apartment. This is an interactive museum dedicating to the past glory of Edo era where Shogunate ruled the country. i am attracted to this part of Japan history after watching a Japanese TV series called 'Atsu Hime'.

The side view of the Edo castle, this is a room where the shogun received his guests.

The view of almost real size Kabuki-za from the sixth floor.

The almost real kabuki performance

The palanquin for lady. It's really small and uncomfortable to sit in. Imagine privilege ladies of the Edo era has to sit on this palanquin for long distance travelling...

A visit to a old Japanese home? Well, this can easily done in the musuem. Sitting on the tatami is not my cup of tea either.

We spent the whole morning in this museum and I thoroughly enjoyed the interactive Edo experience.
