kashgar.old.city

kashgar old city is just located right in the city center, on top of a hill... from a far, it looks nothing more than a slum area.
it's dirty and dusty as overall kashgar impression for you.  you probably get lost and not able to come out from this old city if you venturing by yourself.  so you engaged a volunteer uyghur guide to bring you around.
despite being old, worn out and dusty, the old city has its own charm especially in some houses, where colorful flowers are planted at the courtyard.
along side with some green plants are scattered around, give the earthy, grayish surface a accentuate color up lift.
fig trees are common in almost every household, planted in the courtyard to create a shady communal area for the entire family that living in the house
in some of the wealthy families, this is the sort of decoration being put up to showcase for tourist. a sort of welcoming hall....
or a more decent and airily one like this, more appeal to your liking
all the houses within the old city is built with some harden soil/earth, a ancient technique of uyghur which unfortunately cannot cope up with the global warming and crazy weather change of these days...
nevertheless, you like the deserted small alley and the rustic look of the shut doors...
in reality the old town is endangered, cry out for rescue and is at the risk of collapsing but the uyghur people refusing to be relocated to else where.  the change of weather has not done any good to the wall that made of soil because the sudden heavy outpouring rain can no longer sustain the weather... cracks are visible everywhere, the wall can't  even stand a more harder knock or pressure on several of your attempts.
