you thought the journey would be long but at the end it's quite easy to get to chimei with train, what is killing is the hot weather, making waiting and walking extremely tired.
you love the aged train station of bao'an, such station is so classical nowadays.
from the station, it's about 6 min walk to the entrance of chimei. it's almost look surreal that you are back to the west, or rather in washington, while in reality you are still in tainan, a little outside of the city center but still pretty close by.
as soon as you reached the compound, you opt to shelter yourselves in the cafe with air conditioning and since it's still awhile to your allocated time to visit, so you had your iced latte and shared a slice of mango crepes cake. this was so delicious, just the flavor of the local mango already worth the calories.
after you have rested, you went out for a quick stroll. it's still too warm and too bright for photography or stroll
but this washington inspired architecture definitely worth the picture moments
chimei is conceived by a man with vision, a selfless man who know the only way to reach the world is to educate the next generation there's a beautiful exhibition on the biography of the founder of chimei. he is almost a noble man that worth the respect and deserved all the recognition.
you're transported to the western world judging from this scenery. it's quite convincing..
this scene is more europe than asia...
at the late afternoon, when teh sun about to set, the scenery changes again , you see the glow on the building dome
chimei museum is a statement of architecture, if not in the world then is certainly one in taiwan. you appreciate the collection of western europe and asia arts even though they're not world class. for you, it's definitely worth the trip and visit. ticket has to be source online with advance reservation.
