12/17 臺南之最


the best of tainan, food wise.
 today is your last day in tainan and you seizes your last morning hunting down the food that you really like to try before you leave.  you manage to checked the last two items of your list by going out three rounds in the morning (first visit at 9 am) but without success reason being the shop of  bowl cake (碗糕)  only starts serving at 10 am.
 so at 10am you went back to the same shop for the famous bowl cake, it's worth the effort and walking extra trip helps burning some calories off thus making extra room for more later.
 the bowl cake is so good, it's not something that you accustomed to, though you have had something similar in the past but not exactly the same taste.  for once there isn't any sweet after taste like many other dishes in tainan, you enjoyed your bowl to the fullest and almost wiped it clean.
the fish soup is equally yummy like many other stalls serving the same dish.

 when you walk to the rice cake (米糕) shop, they are still not ready to serve, so you went back to the hotel and hopped out again at a later time.
 落城米糕 the rice cake is just a bowl of steamed glutinous rice with some specific toppings. perhaps the rice is prepared in a certain way but you're sure.  what you know is the combination of rice and topped with some fatty soy braised pork, pork floss, peanut and pickled cucumber is just perfect!
 and a pork stomach soup, super delicious!
 a soy braised duck egg with large yolk and it's a perfect match to the rice.
again, all yummy delicious food are found in a simple and some time run down small eateries as such... but really the best gems of food are found here and not in the classy restaurant.
