you hopped on to the chartered van and off with your family leaving brunei for miri. the journey is just over 2 hours without traffic and bottleneck at immigration control. half way through your journey, the news strike that your destination airport is closed down due to hazy condition. regardless of the news, you arrived miri and decided not to go to the airport but overlay at your brother's room where he checked in for a few more nights. and you head straight to the street and hunt for food.
lunch, consists of the flavors that you're familiar with, the teochew braised duck, sarawak laksa, pork balls noodles and your pork liver soup. all was yummy and you beginning to feel at home here.
to cut the story short, your mh flight was affected by the haze and the closed down of the airport and lead to more than 5 hours delay. nevertheless, you're thankful that despite of the delays you touched down at meow meow city a little over 9pm. unlike your other family members who travel on air asia, their flight was cancelled and they have to travel back with bus, a journey that takes about 14 hours.
with all the last minute change and the fact you arrived earlier than your brother, you have no accommodation for the first night, thankfully your childhood friends was accommodating and able to pick you up and provide one night lodging at their place on short notice. let alone the yummy supper at the open air market. taste of home, taste of childhood and rekindle of friendship. despite of your tiredness (traveling, delays, etc), you're really thankful to God and feel really blessed to have friend whom receive you unconditionally.
