7/22 bung.jagoi.heritage.trail

an early call and you got to eat this famous pork balls noodles at batu kawa old town. it's super greasy but you needed the lard and the calories for the hike...
to ensure you have enough fuel, you got assorted kuehs to munch along the way... these are sold at one of the stalls at the morning market
and within an hour you're at the foot hill or the starting point of bung jagoi trail. this is the office that normally hikers have to register themselves, however given that you came on a weekday, no one is manning the registration
so a quick pit stop, change and get ready for the hike. the banana tree and some plants just next to the toilet facility
and off you go for the hike
along the way, there's some obstacles, such that a block of trees  blocking the trail. you're more interested in the ants
the trail is well path with endless stairs but steeps.  and the humidity of tropical weather put you into full sweat and perspiration.  at one third of the journey, you're already panting and all wet from your sweat...
at half way, when you see the bidahyu long house and the barking of a dog, your sis assured you it's half way....
you seized the opportunity to rest and taking photo as an excuse to rest longer... the bamboo shoot, the lemon grass, grow and breed by the mother nature
the orchid and the wild pineapple
and the hibiscus, the national flower of your coutnry

but you got to move on and continue the journey, because you set yourself a time to complete the trail in 2 hours
so with some self motivation, you move on.  that being said these long houses are abandoned to only one family, the rest of them have succumbed to the modernization and hence no one really live here other than one family and the dog that welcomed you initially.
after the last very steep climb, you're at the top. but the view is just hazy as expected since bau is so close to the kalimantan border of indonesia
and the village at the far end is actually located in the area called serikin, totally covered by the haze.
the hike was challenging but rewarding. it's a good sweat and great vitality. let's hope the smoke will clear soon!
