some say brown is the new black....
hub has been nagging me to bake a coffee cake for awhile and waking up on one morning, looking at the grey sky and the almost withered tree, where there are just a few dried brown leaves hanging in there survived from the last night autumn wind but not sure how long they will last....
and suddenly i am in the mood of baking....
it's got to be something really quick and simple....
something that i know by heart....
something that i know by heart....
so i made a coffee chiffon cake for him...
to make it not an ordinary coffee chiffon cake, i try to create the marble effect by using extra thick coffee mixed with the egg white and spiral in the batter....
while setting it in the oven, i go on admiring the autumn scene in the neighborhood...
the brown and golden leave...
the cloudy sky with occasional overcast...
i have a love and hate relationship with autumn....
at one hand i love the foliage and the color of the fall...
yet i am confronted with short day light and lost my energy because of lack of sunshine (day light)....
and suddenly the aroma of the coffee cake from the kitchen wakes me back from my deep thoughts.....

my marble effect coffee chiffon cake is ready in 25 minute....
in just a matter of time i will be able to slice...
in just a matter of time i will be able to slice...
after all, the cooling down won't take long with the the single digit celcius temperature out there....
coffee chiffon cake - soft and fluffy, a great mid morning or afternoon coffee break with a glass of cappuccino or even a cup of tea if it suits you better
no wonder brown is the new black in the autumn season....

Hi Terri... i just read your blog on the italian meal that you made, and saw the cake at the background... :)
It's true that Chiffon is so light that i always want to add a layer of cream to it because i don't feel that guilty as the cake itself is so light and airly...
