belgium.asparagus

your first evening in knokke, wanting to sample the flemish cuisine, your hotel recommended this petit restaurant. by the time you're seated the waitress informed you that they're out of oysters and scallops. he was a little disappointed but you both stay for the meal.
thai shrimp amouse bouche is tangy and fresh.

freshly made carrot ginger soup was super delis and a taste of home. there's no difficulty in making this soup as long as you have the fresh ingredients at hand. nonetheless, it's a chilly night and you like something to warm your stomach and you love the freshness from the grated ginger.
your main is machelen asparagus with poached egg, dutch rose mini shrimps and smoked salmon.
it came in a colorful plate.
the poached egg is runny and all the ingredients match well with the white asparagus.

he had also white asparagus in wine sauce with meshed egg. his plate looks a little simple and humble but that's the best way to enjoy the freshness and natural sweetness of the seasonal veg.

thought it's a bit too vegetarian for a meat and carbs eater like him.

keeping it simple, none of you ordered dessert but your cappuccino came with simple petit fours and the mini eclair is perfect sweet to end the meal.
