when life is not bright and colorful, i color my weekend!!
last night i am suddenly alive in water color painting again. i haven't painted for a long time and, i finally colored all the sketches that i drew two summers ago. when i set off for the japan summer trip, i brought along a small watercolor drawing book and a mini water color palette. i made sketches on the spot and manage to also paint a few back then in hokkaido and in kyoto, but most of them remain blank or rather colorless. i was home alone last night, and suddenly there is a urge for painting and i follow my heart, take out my unfinished drawing book, set the color and start painting, it was so good. i lost myself in the world of painting, to be exact, journey to that time, those scenes in japan. memories flash back...
sweet ones...
excited ones...
adventurous ones...
delicious ones...
zen ones...
festive ones...
warm ones...
it's just so therapeutic.
today we finally made it to the art workshop here in our city, after talking about it for months and not able to find the time or the mood to do it... but finally we stepped in...we went with the intention for mosaic workshop, like these ladies....
we were looking at the colorful mosaics...
deciding what mosaics to use and envision what we want to decorate...
looking at the beautiful and unique samples on display....
but, we chose two pieces of plain earthware instead.
and ended up in ceramic painting... well mosaic can wait, when the time is right, mosaic will have its way in us...
so with our minds set, the owner explains the basic techniques and how to get the right shades...
brush, sponge, stencils, apron, color charts. off we go, embarking on a journey of creativity and artistic discoveries....
three hours in the workshop, i am trying my very best letting the arty side of me to surface and taking control. and i let myself lost in the world of color, world of painting again. i needed these sort of moments so much as i am still rather stress from my work.
his masterpiece first piece of earthware. a square sushi plate. he started off rather indecisive and not knowing what he wants to achieve but the end result is quite accomplishing.
although technically our pieces still need to go through a layer of glaze and 30 hours of high heat before they are finally done.
next friday our first pieces of self painted earthware will born on earth.
