watercolor.series. part.1/5.夏の日本.summer of japan

summer of japan

ladies and gentlemen, i am proud to introduce you the watercolor series of my japan trip 2009.  please don't laugh at my end products, i am a novice when come to water color painting and i didn't go for classes since my junior high school.  these are my humble master pieces, for me, the greatest accomplishment is the fact that i finally finished them  after two years.

i have about twenty images, so this will be continue for the next few days. skip them if you don't find them appealing or entertaining.
夏の日本

some of my first impressions about japan, particularly tokyo. tokyo madness. tokyo can be overwelming.  one can easily lost in the cross junction of tokyo.
but i take pleasure in some of the green pastures in the heart of tokyo.
1. Meiji jingu
love the space and the green at the garden that leading to meiji jingu.  it's peaceful and quiet here. hard to even imagine the crazy young crowds at shibuya and harajuku just around the corner of the park.
2. Tokyo imperial palace
the special visit to tokyo imperial palace (皇居), that i arranged in advance of time.  tokyo imperial palace is not grand, but white, off white or some grey or faded colors.  just very zen and sober and rightfully represent the beliefs of majority of japanese.

3. kawagoe
when we had enough of tokyo neon lights, never ending crowds, and over all tokyo modern madness, we head for an afternoon of escape to kawagoe (川越市).  an old city with most of the buildings and architecture still pretty much intact since edo era.  it's a good escape to some thing cultural, something historical, something not post modern.

4. roppongi

roppongi hill, i quite like it there.  it has lots of shopping malls, the tallest mori art museum and lots of shops that selling 'designer' stuffs.  some are innovative, some are practical, some are just craps... i had a good day browsing through the shops and arts fix.

well, that the part one of my first impressions about tokyo expressed in watercolor.

happy monday!
