i went for a company outing or rather we called it community event in amsterdam. it is sort of new year's meeting but the focus was really on something on the move. something outdoor. something on ice. i arrived late but not too late that i missed out all the actions.
we were given the choice of sports. ice skating or curling.

i first fancied ice skating but when i looked that the number of people on the move in the ice skating ring, and the fact that i am a novice skater, the last time i skated was years ago. i backed off...

now i really believe the dutch are fanatic when it come to skating. it's really lots of people on a workday evening. so curling is probably safer for a novice skater like me.

i opt for curling, the first time i got to know this game is in one of the winter olympics program. i was wondering why two people each taking  a broom brushing the icy floor when the curling stone moving in full force.

curling in action. in this case is a curling stone that made of wood instead of stone. a cheat one but perfect for all the amateur like us.

spot on!! it was a fun game to play, not too hectic or physical demanding but excited enough to have some fun.
we had some short announcements after the games followed by dinner, nothing interesting but just a plate of stamppot with a mountain of mashed potatoes, vegetable and 1/2 portion of smoked sausage. quick energy pick up after the sportive games. then again the emphasis is really on ice and not on food. for me it is entire new experience, curling on ice!! fun!
