::ginger.bell::

ginger bells, ginger bells, ginger all the way....oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh...
i was literary dashing through the snow yesterday and the reality is that i had no fun at all. DSC_0888
so i finally come by to bake the gingerbread cookies... my first try so far, last year i did the butter shortbread cookies and they came out good. but with gingerbread cookies some how didn't turned out brown enough, nor do i get the dark shade like most of the commercial version...

i don't have the gingerbread men cookie cutter, so i resort to ginger bell. but, but my cookies despite of tasting gingery when i bite on it, they are a lot harder. i thought i could substitute molasses with pressed dark brown sugar, but somehow they just don't really ring a gingerbread bell to me...

my Christmas trees and Christmas stars also have a coarse finishing, the surface of the cookies are not smooth, they are just not pretty... these suppose to be Christmas bakes for our neighbours... but i now wonder they are pretty and presentable...

here are some Christmas stars in a box... i still wonder if i should dress them up with royal icing, they look a little plain and pale at the moment...
we didn't go to the Christmas market at dusseldorf, the weather just doesn't gear up for it. so a quiet saturday at home, went out for weekly grocery shopping and local market, ran some last minutes Christmas errands, touch up the Christmas light and decorations and some spring winter cleaning in the kitchen.
!!one week to Christmas!!
