mid.december.ramblings

this is what we did on a mid december saturday.

12 December1-2

i don't have to mention it anymore i guess... we are living in ice age lowland... snow piling up higher and higher. no sign of melting away.

we went to the city center, for some groceries shopping and festive ramblings...

12 December-2

i saw them at a stall in the local mall and find them quite enticing but really just for your eyes, they look delicious but really are not edible..

enjoying my deep fried cod fish filet (lekkerbak in dutch) at a local fresh produces market. the hot and crunchy battered skin and the fish filet, a great contrast to the wintry scene and temperature too... every mouthful is a bliss!

12 December-3

i cooked japanese style mentaiko spaghettini (salmon roe spaghetti), using the last salmon roe sac that we have at home. a grilled pacifc fish and a heavily japanese influence brussels sprout dish. it looks like a typical dutch dish with bacon, but the generous dash of ponzu sauce, ginger and garlic made this dish with a japanese twist... the smokiness of the bacon, the tangy-ness of the ponzu (lemon juice + japanese soy sauce), the freshness of the ginger and the bitterness of the brussels sprout, made this a rich dish better to eat just with the white rice than with the spaghettini.

meanwhile, another big fall of snow again..
