two.cakes.in.a.weekend

i am not feeling well today, in fact i woke up relatively early the last few days. so untypical of me as i am not a morning person. with disturbance in sleep quality, i cannot concentrate on anything since morning and develop into rather severe headache. i didn't even make it to sunday service today and just hang around at home, can't concentrate in reading, interneting so i just eat and sleep...

i will try to see if i am fit for work tomorrow by composing this blog entry... i am not sick (yet) but just at the edge of catching a cold or something of which i really hate in the winter season....

we went for a friend's house for dinner last night and i baked the rose chiffon cake for her. and it was much later that i found out it's her 3 year old daughter's birthday. i am glad that i baked a rose chiffon cake and if i would to know that it's a little girl birthday, i would have make a princes cake for the little one instead, but for now, rose chiffon is what she got.

another friend baked a gula melaka cheesecake, so the two cakes just enough to feed all the guests she invited.

meanwhile at home, the old boy is nagging again about the fact that i didn't bake any for ourselves this weekend, and so on his request on "something with a gelatin layer, some fruits..." i adventure into something completely that is my first attempt.

i have no name for this, perhaps a fruit flan, but basically just a sponge cake that didn't rise high enough with a layer of gelatined fruits. again based on what we have at home, so a can of mandarin and some fresh grapes formed the top layer of the cake.

i leave it in the fridge to set overnight and despite of the headache and not feeling well, i did make it to have a slice as my breakfast and took some photos before i collapse to my bed again. on second thought, isn't it actually looks quite summer, don't you think so?

playing with background... still need to find a best spot for food photography in the winter...
