city.under.the.heaven

den haag onder de hemel literally the hague under the heaven is a wonder arts initiative.  sunshine is delicious too that day. you manage to return in time from a business meeting in belgium to join your friends (or rather his friends) who en-route lowland to suriname for an arty and beach-y afternoon in the hague.
it wasn't the intention to be arty (the plan is to be beach-y at the scheveningen beach) but when you drove passed the shady lane of lange voorhout, your attention and focus were caught by this giant man. and so when one of them suggest to take a stroll you conquer with both hands...

literally a giant man by title too. he as a strange posture, he likes looking at himself.
and many people love sneaking under him for photo, so you do the same too

the giant man is laughing as he look at his own (well, you know what i mean)...

he is a happy man at least and it is arty, a piece of sculpture for you to interpret, isn't that art after all?

and then something giant, something red. you think it's a brilliant idea to have sculpture display on this shady lane because the red stands out amid of lavish green.
and you said to yourself, you seen this before. but you couldn't recalled where and when....

you know you met red dinosaur made in china before, how could you forget the striking red and the giant dinosaur?
standing right in front of you, it's like a reunion, meeting a good old friend once again.  and true enough you met red dinosaur last year in chicago, at the millennium park.
you walk further down the lane, and as you expecting a sculpture, you notice something on the ground
another art display, like a skeleton of the dinosaur.  but it has a different message to portray, all engravings are chinese characters in financial terms or name of banks and financial institutes.
for you, the artist is expressing the doom of the financial market, a sense of financial depression and symbolic expression of economy crisis...

a few steps further, there is this sculpture where the three of you spending time to appreciate and guessing the message. you think this is about a rapid changing china and symbolizing change, struggles and modernization.

and this is what you like the most. a parcel box. with a message. an important message.
you are amuse to listen to their conversation and interpretation of arts
but this parcel has a rather sad massage to bring,  in your opinion
thousands of people drown, mass sacrifice but you cannot associate it to any particular event or time. the title of this sculpture is rather sarcastic "a gift from heaven"
and you are still pondering the actually message the artist trying to convey.

and then you are confronted by a bunch of trash, it almost look like unattended rubbish, but in reality these are part of the art subjects.
about the export of china, or rather the consequences of massive export from china to the world. look at what these exports have done to china itself, creating massive rubbish on a country that is not capable in recycling or green in thinking...
and some bones scattered around ending the series of sculpture display, on a lovely afternoon in a shady lane with the precious sunshine...
and you suddenly rediscover the beautiful den haag in the summer.
