sapporo.art.park.札幌芸術の森美術館

the outdoor sculptures of den haag has triggered your urge for some art fix again.  you went to museum beelden aan zee today to appreciate more sculptures.  it's a fantastic way to spend a raining saturday at scheveningen beach but indoor. you have to sort out the photos first before you can post anything about "the haag under the heaven" and you remember the sapporo art park too well ...

back in may, you hesitated and wondered if you should venture out of sapporo as the park that you intend to go is quite a distance away from sapporo.  you remember moerenuma park too well that you really would like to visit 札幌芸術の森美術館 especially the outdoor sculpture garden(野外美術館)

on your arrival you just blown away by what you saw. this is such a special park, a compound that changes the scenery as the cloud moves and changing of the color of the light.
you were hoping for a sunny blue sky day. but instead of that the weather is cloudy, later you know that cloudy sky gives you a complete different interpretation of this place.
there are tons of sculptures you could approach them like a treasure hunt as you hunt down the sculpture and make a guess.
these sculptures show various expressions according to the time and the weather of northern japan
which varies greatly from season to season.
you can encounter these sculptures among the trees in the open air.
there are sculptures everywhere within the 75 hectares compound. you don't have to look hard to encounter one, but you need to look through your heart and senses for arts to really appreciate them.
it is a wonderful way to blend arts into nature.  sitting in the wood, hiding on the ground, some are obvious others require a lot of search.
you love these two ladies sculpture. from a distance they are like close friends sitting on the bench and chatting away, as you make an approach, they are like each looking and admiring the arts objects in front of them, they are not talking. a little closer, you kind of sensing a different atmosphere where they perhaps just had an quarrel and not talking to one another. it's an emotional journey, this is how arts should impact you.
you took way too many photos here and as a result you have to collage them because this is not a photo album.
from a distant the copper sculpture resembles the dutch tulip, which reminds you of 'home', when your vacation is over you will return to where you belong... such a strange relation, other people surely interpret it different
on your way to the exit, you can't help but stopping at the pond again and enjoying how the white objects moving around...
and the reflection of the sky, trees on the surface of the pool.
you love arts. you love japan.
