future.pass

you went to wereldmusem for a future pass exhibition.
you love this little doll... very avatar isn't it?
and the sherk like creatures, the exhibition are primarily asian arts with specific themes such as east/west, past/future, yin/yang, universal/individual, virtual/real...

work from korean artist, using stripe of paper to create the texture. quite an interesting technique.

fabric in the form of art display, a piece of embodiment  fabric that can turn into fashion...
the eye is quite an eye catching display...
you like the perspective of this floor plan art, interesting expression on the life of an individual with materialism and activity on each room....
art work by takashi murakami, you probably notice the motif were once very popular on LV handbag.
the painting on the left is a portrait of a typical japanese teenager, confined in a small room with comic, empty bento boxes, while she is connected to the "world"  but in reality she is in isolation of her own. yoshitomo nara has some works here (the right) because you seen one at hara museum in tokyo before

originally this art work caught your eye as it is featured on the promotion brochures but on close encounter this is a work from a chinese artist, although the work is very similar to yositomo nara.

there are many interesting arts, just too bad that they are all confined in a very small display area, creating a lot of distraction and making appreciation on individual piece a challenge as there are so many things going on at the same space....
another colorful art work ...
this is a confluent of eastern scenery painting with western idea where barbie dolls are floating in the water...

to end with your favorite, a very western piece of art but created by a chinese artist with a message of tiananmen square incident, that this lady is leaving the country but without knowing where she is heading to...

you actually walk the four floors twice in order to fully comprehend what the artist trying to convey. at times the message is sarcastic, otherwise bizarre or conflict. sometime it is the expression of boredom, westernization, dissatisfaction and you got all sort of feelings and impression as you observe every piece of work here.
