the.state.of.tokyo

day three, the death toll continue to increase, the magnitude has been corrected from 8.6 to 9.0.  this morning i set off to church, was hesitating if i should go by taxi or by metro.  on second thought i took a metro from toranomon to omodesando.  the metro is rather empty and it halted for about five minute during the journey as another aftershock strike.  everyone is calm in the metro and the ride resumes shortly when the vibration is over.

JLH is quite empty too.  i think only 1/3 of the congregation turn out as not all train lines resume to regular service, some just took on the advice to stay at home.  pastor assured us even more we should stand on our ground and pray, intercede for people at the north eastern japan.  instead of letting the fear and worry taking over the control of our thoughts and emotions, we should let God come in to the situation.  hebrews 12:28 - therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. the amplified version says let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe.
during the service we could feel our chairs vibrating for at least four times, towards the end of the service, i decided to just walk up to the open area at the stage and just dance and jump for Jesus, after all He is my rock and firm foundation.  the church as a whole took the offering at the end of the service and this money is going to channel to the north east immediately starting tomorrow for the relief.
takeshita-dori, a lot quieter than usual, all the kawaii, gothic and anime alternatives are absent today. even then they are enough tourists and locals alike to keep this narrow street busy.
harajuku station, usually gets very crowded at this hour on sunday afternoon but today it is rather empty.

a group of waseda university (早稲田大学) students pleading the passerby to donate for the effected area.
i mean we can pray for japan, we can invest in japan. but we don’t need fear or rumor like the one spreading in the international media.  a few of us share our thoughts and feeling after the church service, we are not affected by yet afflicted in certain way, most likely in our subconscious, we must keep sane and be sensible even more during this time telling truth to our families and friends out there who are worrying for us because of what is said and broadcast through the international media. we  people in tokyo owe it to the people in the areas that have lost everything. if they can keep it up, it is even so for us.
i got an email from my executive that business is going to resume as usual tomorrow, but tokyo electric is planning for a power cut, so i wonder what would happen eventually, i will call my executive tomorrow to discuss.
